Advice for First-Time Attendees

If you have never before been to a transgender support group, we all understand how you may be feeling. We have experienced what you are experiencing.

You are not alone!

You may feel nervous or anxious about what it would be like to attend. Maybe you are unsure about how to describe how you are feeling. Perhaps you have never talked about your gender issues.

Even though you may be unsure, you are here. You came to this site wondering if it would be helpful to talk to other people who may share some of your questions and inner struggles.

The best way to find out is to attend a meeting. The groups are welcoming and friendly and the facilitators strive to keep them that way. You are not required to say anything. You do not have to have anything figured out in advance. You can use any name you like in the meeting.

Every one of us also had our own first time, so we know how it feels. We were nervous when we first reached out to others. We all read a web page like this and wondered if we should take a chance and talk to someone.

We were glad we did. There is a good chance you will be too.

Our goal is to provide a safe and accepting space for everyone. We honor everyone’s need for privacy.
